So Sega finally “unleashed” the newest Sonic game’s screen shots as well as a new trailer. From the trailer it looks like the CG will be good, something that has yet to disappoint me in a Sonic Game. The intro also looks totally kick ass and I’m glad to see that they’re finally giving some credibility back to Eggman who has finally destroyed the world…or at least split it up into 7 pieces. I also picked up the newest issue of Nintendo Power today and it mentioned that Sonic will be the only playable character. I know a lot of people are saying “finally” upon hearing that buy may I remind you of Sonic and the Secret Rings? Yes, I’ve heard that it’s sold decently but I can’t understand why (in my opinion). The controls are sloppy at best and the camera angle is horrid just like it’s predecessors *cough* Sonic Heroes *cough.* But back to Unleashed. I have to say the storyline sounds great but I’m hoping it doesn’t turn into another Iblis Disaster, emphasizing more on the disaster. The hedgehog Sonic game play looks fantastic and the levels look amazing but then there’s the werehog. I know about a week ago I changed my mind about the werehog but after seeing screen shots and the little bit of game play from when Sonic goes out at night (and all this time I thought lycanthropy needed a full moon not just night) I’m back to being worried. Werewolf Sonic is slow. Something I personally can’t stand in a Sonic game. I despise Sonic Labyrinth for that sole reason, yes I have played it and though it’s now a classic I’m sorry it’s just bad. Sonic needs his speed. His name is SONIC the Hedgehog. If Sega just wanted a normal blue hedgehog as their mascot they would have just kept Mr. Hedgehog. Plus it looks like there’s just an onslaught of enemies as you’re trying to play through the game which I think was one of the problems with Shadow the Hedgehog *sigh.* Well it may not sound and it may sound like I’m contradicting myself here but I am excited for this game, just not the werewolf stuff. I guess I’ll just have to suffer through Sonic’s aliment during the night levels just so I get to the next [hopefully] kick ass, speed enforced, side scrolling daytime level. I wonder what the Australian level is going to look like? (If they have one).
